Why sponsor this child?
Durga is the youngest of her three siblings and is 5 years old. She lives with her mother in Jhapa, a remote village in Nepal. Her father abandoned the family and re-married another woman. Now her mother has to support the family herself. However, with a minimal income of $1 a day she can barely fulfill the basic household needs. Even her two brothers have been sent off to study at their aunt’s place.
When we met Durga she was wearing shabby clothes. When asked what she wanted to be when she grows up, she firmly replied “a teacher” with an innocent look in her eyes. However, her dream of becoming a teacher is being undermined by her financial condition. You can lend support and be part of her dream.
