It's 7pm on Sunday, Oct 2nd 2011. I just woke up from a 3 hour nap and I am sure seventeen others are doing the same. A total of eighteen people spent their weekend volunteering/working at BuySeasons (http://www.buyseasons.com/), a warehouse in New Berlin, WI. BuySeasons is one of the largest distributors of Halloween Costumes and Party Supplies. During the busy seasons, the company allows volunteers from different organizations to help in their warehouse and donates the total amount earned to the organization. A total of eighteen people volunteered for Ganga Ghar. Our job was to load trailers with boxes for shipment. Our shift was from 7:30am to 3:30pm Saturday and Sunday. The job was pretty easy and working together as a group was a lot of fun. The hardest part was waking up that early on both days of the weekend. Some of the volunteers were high school students who were working for the first time in their life and the remaining volunteers regular job is working in an office. So, working in a warehouse on our feet loading trailers for the whole shift made us really tired. At our 1:30pm break today, all of us were tired and couldn't wait for the shift to be over. We encouraged each other by remembering that we were working for a good cause. We can suffer this little pain to help the children that have suffered their entire life. However, do the children in Nepal really know that we are working this hard for them? Dedicating a full weekend to work in a warehouse was a tough decision. We hope that this will make a difference in someone's life. We ran a quick calculation to estimate the total amount that will be donated to GG from Buy Seasons. It was $1794, which is equivalent to Rs. 135,000. That's a good amount in two days! Now, the break is over - let's get back to work! List of Volunteers: Ashim Pradhan, Ashish Chuke, Atisk K.C, Bijay Bajracharya, Diwash Khadka, Hammad Jaffary, Ken Tapsoba, Matt Vescio, Ojash Shrestha, Prajwal Giri, Pranaya Bista, Prija Shrestha, Rahul Shakya, Rashmi Lama, Sanil Pannachan, Sanjeev Shrestha, Sweata Shrestha, and Tenzin Rampa. Ganga Ghar would like to thank each individuals for their time and hard work this weekend. Every single individual and every single hour led us to raise the total amount. Thank you for helping us help the underprivileged children in Nepal. Thank you!
