Why sponsor this child?
Shadev is a young, vibrant 11 year old boy whose bright and cheerful personality speaks volumes about his resilience in the face of great hardship. By any standards, Shadev has had a hard life. His father, traditionally the primary breadwinner of the family, is disabled. Therefore, both his mother and his elder sister have to work as housemaids to provide for the family and pay for the father’s medical treatment. The money made by his mother and sister is barely enough to provide food and the most basic needs for Shavev’s family. In addition to the uncertainty on when he will get his next meal, Shadev is experiencing even more uncertainty in terms of his schooling. While Shadev views school as the only way to move forward and out of the poverty trap that his family is currently experiencing, he is faced with the real possibility of not being able to attend school due to the lack of money to pay for his tuition fees and related costs.
Shadev wants to go to school, he wants to receive education so that he can support his family, provide treatment for his ailing father, and serve as a role model to his siblings. Shadev’s commitment to the health and wellbeing for his family cannot be achieved without his education. By supporting his education, not only would one provide education for a deserving young boy but would be helping a family make its way out of poverty.
